How can I add annotations for special dates in GA4?

Annotations for specific dates or events are not available in GA4 at this point and there has been no update from Google on whether this feature will become available in the future (latest update: July 2023).

The ability to identify or match up traffic or performance changes in Analytics is important so we recommend keeping a running log yourself, e.g. in an Excel file, to aid with future analysis.
